Launch of the NHG Research Database Platform (REDCap)

We are pleased to announce that NHG has launched the REDCap system as a cluster-wide Electronic Data Capture system for supporting research activities in NHG since 1 September 2016.

We will be accepting applications for REDCap Projects from the same date. The Application Form and other information are available on the NHG research website (www.research.nhg.com.sg --> Resources --> NHG Research Database Platform (REDCap)).

What is REDCap?

Developed by at Vanderbilt University in 2004, the REDCap platform is an easy-to-use web-based application for building and managing online surveys and databases. It is specifically geared to support electronic data capture for research studies.

REDCap’s easy user-friendly design environment allows you to quickly create web-based databases and data capture forms with special features like real-time data entry validation (e.g. for data types and range checks) and the ability to set up a calendar to schedule and track critical study events such as blood-draws, without the need for in-depth database knowledge or technical coding skills.

REDCap also facilitates easy export of the collected data to popular statistical software such as Microsoft Excel, SAS, STATA, R, or SPSS for analysis.

REDCap Introductory Roadshows

As part of our activities to introduce the REDCap platform to the NHG research community, we will be conducing Introductory Roadshows at your Institution beginning 1 September 2016.

We will also be conducting short REDCap Familiarization Sessions to introduce users to the basic functions of REDCap.
