Translating Research into Highest Quality Patient Care

Institute of Geriatrics and Active Ageing (IGA)

The Institute of Geriatrics and Active Ageing (IGA), part of Tan Tock Seng Hospital (TTSH), was established in September 2012 to be at the forefront of TTSH’s expansion of research and training initiatives to serve our rapidly ageing population.

Above and beyond conducting novel ageing research for earlier diagnosis and better management of geriatric conditions, IGA embarks on innovative models of geriatric care and technological innovations through partnership. Positive results from our research will help influence geriatric practice and be translated into clinical practice, thus leading to improved clinical care.

The Institute focuses on imparting invaluable knowledge through continuing and inter-professional education, to equip healthcare professionals with the ability to deliver patient-centric, holistic care to improve the health, independence, safety & quality of life of older persons, and to empower older persons to care for themselves and caregivers to care for their loved ones.

IGA also aims to equip more clinicians with quality improvement methodology skills, and increase the institute’s participation in Clinical Practice Improvement Program (CPIP) / quality improvement projects and initiatives.
